Pope Francis and Latin America
Introduction
Pope Francis is one of the influential persons in Latin America. One of the most significant impacts of Pope Francis is how he is changing the perception of Catholicism in Latin America. In El Salvador, Pope Francis is pushing a policy of sainthood although controversial for the martyred prelate. He is embracing a new and livelier worship style that his predecessors had always disagreed with and discouraged. The amendments that the pope has brought has earned him a place in the people of Latin America and therefore getting even the grassroots support.
The main aim of this research paper is to examine and help us understand the role of Pope Francis in the restoration of Catholicism doctrines in Latin America and also globally. Pope Francis is regarded as the most influential pontiff of his tenure in most countries in Latin America (Levine 20). For us to understand his significant role in the Catholic faith restoration, we are going to consider several studies relevant to this one.
Research Questions
i. What is the role of Pope Francis in the restoration of the Catholic Church in Latin America?
ii. Which reforms should the pope bring to win the people of Latin America?
iii. Which is the most significant change that the pope has brought to the Latin America Catholic believers?
iv. What is the influence of the pope regarding the political arena in Latin America?
Hypothesis
Hypothesis 1: Under the leadership of Pope Francis, Latin America has seen continued growth of the Catholic Church more than it has grown for the last two decades.
Hypothesis 2: Pope Francis is a charismatic leader who not only has influenced the change of traditional church doctrines but has also influenced the political world for people of Latin America.
Literature Review
Pope as the Catholic leader who has been elected from Latin America has significantly been embraced by the people of his home country and surrounding nations in South America. Most people, when asked about their opinion of the pope, they show a high level of satisfaction with the pontiff. The studies have shown that 9 out of 10 adult Argentinians have a favorable response if asked about their opinions about Pope Francis (Lahsen, and Domingues 21).
