The Pathway of the USSR.
The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) was established in 1922 in post-revolutionary Russia. The confederation comprised several countries, including Russia, Belorussia, Ukraine, and the Transcaucasian Federation, which was later split into the republics of Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics was the successor of the Russian Empire. Also, it was the first nation in the world to ever adopt and enact Marxist Socialism as its rule of power over its subjects. Its formation was based on Vladimir Lenin's decision, the leader of the Bolshevik Party during the subsequent three-year Russian Civil War and the Russian Revolution in 1917. The establishment was pushed by the committees of the workers and soldiers of the coalition. Years after it was formed, the USSR dominated most of Europe, encompassing 15 republics, namely Russia, Georgia, Belorussia, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. The USSR collapsed in 1991.
Why the USSR was a Unique State Formation.
The Economy of the USSR.
The economy of the USSR was unique and not in line with the rest of the European nations because it was majorly based on the model of state ownership, its numerous modes of production, collective farming, industrial manufacturing, and centralized administrative planning. After its unification and from the start of 1928, the economy of the USSR was driven by a series of five-year plans, which ensured economic growth and overall success of the union. By the beginning of 1950, agriculture was the main contributor to the economy, and industrial power put the union on the map all over the world. This section discusses the principal models of the economy of the USSR, its political and cultural systems that made it unique from the rest of Europe.
Economic Planning.
The economic system of the USSR was based on state ownership. Five central bodies were running the economy; Gosplan, Gosbank, and the Gossnab. From the beginning of 1928, the economy was controlled using a series of five-year plans. In this method, Ygow writes that the planning ministries of the union created and offered a mix of all the economic characteristics of each enterprise, an effective plan that would ensure its completion, all wholesale and retail prices of all businesses within the territory (243). The process of economic planning was built around balancing the financial inputs and the planned targets for the whole year or two years, according to the planning ministry. However, from 1931 to the later parts of 1950, the union had ideologically covered all of the methods that it was using in decision-making and the mathematical calculations of the planning process. This is because, generally, the plans were over-ambitiou...
