The film Mr. Smith Goes to Washington was produced and distributed when the nation was in the recovering process of the great depression effects, the stabilization of the economy as a result of Roosevelt’s deal and the brewing of the 2nd world war. The film is an important form not only in the state affairs terms during that time it was produced but also what led to its production and the aftermath. People should be able to hold up liberty and say that they are free to think and speak or that they are fighting for a better course so that he can be able to stand on two feet decent and free. Mr. Payne accuses Smith as a newcomer who is only profiting and is almost being expelled. Mr. Smith being a hero goes to the Senate floor and questions the gibberish American ideals until the sympathy popularity shifts to his side and Paine who is now guilt-riddled has no choice but to confess everything.
