As a result, its background provides a useful insight into the significant developments in the broader luxury and fashion sector, which has evolved from an industry dominated by tiny family businesses to one driven by a few international corporations over the last three decades. Notwithstanding this trend toward integration, every conglomerate in this sector has its unique personal story to tell (Chen, 2021 p.77). It is mainly the case at LVMH, which established a distinct organizational framework that fostered novel product development and design methodologies.
Leading designers were hired as artistic directors to contribute positively to the company's fashion and luxury businesses. Nevertheless, these creative brains were also rendered submissive to the company's set initiatives. Ultimately, beyond the company, LVMH encouraged innovativeness and the maintenance of craftsmanship (Chen, 2021 p.77). It funded technical education, established rewards for new designers and apparel producers, and encouraged the conservation of old crafts via different programs. LVMH also placed its activities in the context of the French luxury heritage, which includes the work of the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne.
