Term Paper Instructions:

This is a final paper for a social work class. The class name is intro to social work. It is a introductory course to social work major student.
In order for you to write this paper for me, It is better that you are social work major or at least have some certain knowledge on social work.( social work is not sociology)
In this final paper, the instructor wants us to write about how those knowledge we learned this semester
Will impact our future career as a social worker. Here is the original requirement:
14- The aim of the paper is to get a more in-depth understanding of your role as a future social worker. Reflect on the important moments that have arisen for you in your reading
and in our class discussions.
● Explain the ways you have grown in both your theoretical and practical understanding of
anti-oppressive social work.
● Describe the field of service or population you are interested in working with and why
you chose this service or population
● Outline an action plan for your future work in the field.
HOWEVER, since I’m not planning to be a social worker in the future.( though I’m social work major) . I talked to my instructor and she said I can write about how the knowledge and anti-oppression practice we learned this semester could be apply to my future career.
As my own plan, I will study digital media when i go to graduate school( I’m now undergrad). Then I want to work in the beauty/ fashion area as a beauty/fashion blogger or Youtuber.
So what you gonna write about is how the knowledge I learned this semester will impact/ benefit my future career as a person working in the beauty/fashion area( also social media area) and how can I apply what I learned.
Since beauty industry and social media themselves already included a lot of discrimination and racism, I think you can definitely write something about that. You can also write about mental health or something( since they are somewhat related) just write about anything you think applies.
Here is a little information about me since you will be writing this paper in a first person narrative. I’m a international student study social work in NYC. ( undergrad) I’m originally come from China and come to US when I was 18. I was born in a traditional Chinese family and my family was very conservative. I had a lot of issue with my family.( this is the reason why I choose to study social work because I’m interested in the family and children sector of social work) However, I will not be a social worker in the future since my main interest are fashion, beauty and social media. When I was growing up I was restricted from make up, hair styling or any thing since my family was conservative and they believe that those are not the right thing to do, I guess that’s why now I’m obsessed with fashion& beauty.
I attached my textbook, syllabus and class powerpoint. Please carefully read those before you start writing this paper.
Also, you don’t need to write this really formally( no need to write it as a very academic paper and find a lot of reference.) this paper is all about how knowledge I learned and my insights impact my plans for future.

Social work's main focus is the wellbeing of individuals and societies and driven by the need to realize social and economic justice. The knowledge of social work can be applied in extensive fields both for personal and community improvement. In an era characterized by social problems and movements, social work is more important than ever. Social interventions are becoming more popular and individuals are moving away from social suppression through social activism. Social work interventions should be practical, evidence-based and social workers should go beyond theoretical orientations to effective quality enactments (Proctor, 2018). This paper looks at the applicability of social knowledge and how I can use it to aid in my profession. The main focus of the paper to highlight how I can apply the knowledge from class into my career as a fashion blogger and integrate it to promote the social work aspects that are present in the industry and to my community especially girls who lack the platform to pursue their careers due to cultural oppression. The paper will look at various anti-oppression policy practices and their application in the enhancement of future interactions.
Background
The focus of my career is in the beauty fashion industry as a blogger and/or Youtuber. The elements of social work applicable to my involvement in the industry are presented by the industry as well as my micro, mezzo and macro environments. This makes the resulting environment and its affiliations a complex interaction of the various attributive interests and dynamics. I will highlight the different oppressions present in the community arising from my professional practice and how social work knowledge can help navigate the challenges to achieve general well-being and social justice. According to Morgaine and Capous-Desyllas (2015), oppression includes the imposing of belief systems, values, laws, and practices on other groups through either peaceful or violent means. The fashion industry is one of the highly segmented industries which is an indication of existential discriminations in terms of race, gender and status.
Application
The main reason I undertook social work as my major was because of the cultural oppression surrounding beauty and femininity that I experienced growing up in China. The perception of beauty was with a lot of controversy and styling and wearing make-up was considered taboo. For this reason, as I pursue my career in the industry I undertake it as my responsibility to ensure that this kind of oppression is not continued by advocating, using anti-oppression social work practices, about the possibility of cultural freedom to Chinese girls who are interested in the industry. Promoting the beauty industry will be the main agenda but integrating it with social work concepts can spread to audiences beyond the industry. The social media focus of my career ensures that the practice goes beyond the direct clients I interact with physically and can spread to a wider context.
