Donald Trump is the leading candidate to win the Republican party's nomination for the 2024 presidential election, although he faces indictments in four different state and federal criminal cases. Trump has influenced some of the Republican electorate that criminal charges are politically influenced, which seeks to frustrate his election. One specific policy he supports is enacting strict immigration restrictions and tougher curbs on trade with the Chinese. Trump has declared to halt birthright citizenship for kids of immigrants existing in the country illegally (Montoya-Galvez, 2023). Trump has a strong grip on his party's right wing, even though it may be hard to find independents and moderates to back him in a general election if he wins the nominations.
