For Assignment 1 you are asked to focus on Paul Hersey: creator of the situational leadership model, this theorist is credited with helping to shape organizations of the past, present, or future.
In this paper (2-page double-spaced excluding title page and reference page) you will describe in narrative form the various aspects Paul Hersey theory and your own reflections relating his theorist’s ideas to your organizational experiences.

1. Major contribution to organizational theory.

The development of organizations has undergone tremendous changes from rigid frameworks to more flexible and fluid approaches. These shifts are informed by increased diversity in the business world and ever-changing needs. Virtual organizations, dynamic, adaptive, and responsive organizations are already replacing the physical, traditional and bureaucratic forms of enterprises. Such organizational development has been spearheaded by leadership. More often, leaders deploy distinct approaches to corporate management. One such most practical approach to managing work environments involves situational leadership. Paul Hersey is one of the contributors of situational leadership theory, also called the situational leadership model.
Situational leadership refers to leadership strategy development and research by Kenneth Blanchard and Paul Hersey (Alobaidan et al., 2020: Wright, 2017)). Situational leadership requires organization leaders to change his or her personality with a view of ensuring a corresponding change in employees. More often, leaders find themselves in varied situations or circumstances which called for varied responses to such problems or crises (Kibbe, 2019). Some of these circumstances are challenging and will require leaders to apply unique leadership approaches to each situation. However, it must be noted that there is no right or wrong leadership style, but it is attitudes that make a significant difference (Wright, 2017). Wright observes that each circumstance warrants a response from a leader and theorizes that an effective leader would examine and judge the response need based on the willingness of the employees, workers, or followers to complete such task.
In situation leadership, the ability of a leader to adjust is one of the most desirable personality traits. Effective leaders are needed to consistently adjust their leadership style to match the followers' needs. They can create an environment that permits their followers to grow and increased their capacity to complete the required tasks. One of the major contributions of situational leadership to organizational theory revolves around adaptability to changing circumstances (Meier, 2016). The adaptability of leaders is critical to handle the variety of situations that may arise effectively in organizations. Studies have proven that superiors, peers, and followers or subordinates can identify adaptable leaders and view them as having a positive leadership trait (Wright, 2017).
Hersey-Blanchard Model and Leadership styles are based on tasks and relationships. According to the situational leadership theory, four leadership styles can be used and this makes key concepts in this theory (Hingston, 2018). First, the delegating style revolves around a low-task, low-relationship style.
