Geography is the study of earth surface, its phenomenon, features and inhabitants. It involves the response of people to topography, soil, climate and vegetation. It seeks to describe and explain all features on the earth’s surface. Geography is divided into several branches: physical, human, human-environment, cultural and political and historical geography (Geikie, 2001).
Physical geography views geography as an earth science. It seeks to explain the global plants and animals patterns. Human geography on the other hand focuses on studying the patterns that shape the interaction of human beings with the economic aspects. In their study, geographers focus more on flora than fauna. This is because, geographers in their study aims at addressing the problems that face mankind as they live in planet earth.
