Constipation and Diarrhea
Constipation and diarrhea are alterations in the digestive system. This means they are part of what can be considered to be a symptom of another underlying complication in the system. Ideally, where a patient suffers from diarrhea or constipation it is considered normal from time to time depending on the diet that the patient has interacted with in the last few hours (Zhang & Cai, 2015). However, where the patient is suffering from abnormal diarrhea or constipation, these are alterations that need to be checked on and a colonoscopy is one of the best chances of determining the health of the system. It has however to be conducted along with other tests such as lab tests for more conclusive results.
Abnormal Abdominal
There are three main types of abnormal abdominal pains and these include the visceral pain. This is a pain that is associated with the main organ involved. Most of the organs do not have adequate nerve endings and as such, the patient is likely to experience pain that poorly localized (EMTResource, 2018). In most of the cases the pains are mild or less severe and they tend to be constant or intermittent. However, it is important to understand that, this is not to imply the condition is mild. This pain that is associated with for example gallstones or appendicitis among others. The parietal pain on the other hand is associated with irritation of the peritoneal lining. This is a lining that has a higher number of nerve endings and thus the pain is usually quite severe and localization is very precise (EMTResource, 2018). Patients complaining of such pains will present a guarded position even when breathing or swallowing. This is in an effort to reduce the level of stretch on the abdominal muscles and limiting the downward diaphragm movement, thereby reducing the pressure exerted on the peritoneum. Referred pain as the name suggests, is pain that is caused by an organ on side of the body but the pain is felt on another part of the body as nerve pathways are shared. While it is fairly constant it is poorly localized (EMTResource, 2018). For example, patient with a liver problem may complain of pain in the scapula...
