You are a Human Resources Manager of an expanding technology company consisting of 170 employees that develops and distributes small electronic devices. Over the past two (2) years, a research group formed, designed, and built prototypes of small remote surveillance cameras used for security. Recently, your company won a contract to build and provide these remote surveillance cameras to various government agencies. The contract will begin with your company supplying these cameras to agencies within your home state. If all orders are fulfilled sufficiently, the contract will be expanded to supplying agencies outside of your home state.
For the immediate future, you will need to secure a larger facility and hire more staff to sustain the first part of the contract. This staff will consist of ten (10) Assembly Technicians, one (1) Certified Quality Control Engineer, one (1) Contract Administrator, and one (1) Office Support Paraprofessional. Meanwhile, there is a contract clause requiring that you provide a staffing plan in order to ensure future product deliveries and sustain the possible future growth.
You may create and / or make all necessary assumptions needed for the completion of these assignments.
Select one (1) of the scenarios and write a four to five (4) page paper in which you:
Identify two (2) types of staffing models that could apply to your chosen scenario and determine which model would be best suited for efficiency, productivity, and possible future growth. Examine the significant effect of each identified staffing model on processes that may be occurring within the organization (e.g., outsourcing, contingent workers, consulting firms, etc.).
Predict the major potential legal issues that you may encounter when establishing equal employment opportunities and diversity within the workplace while still aiming to acquire employees with the needed certifications and credentials. Next, explain the method of achieving transparency within your staffing model. Justify your response.
Specify three (3) tasks that you need to perform to identify, analyze, and develop job requirements and task statements that you will include in formalized job descriptions. Next, predict the frequency with which you would need to review and adjust these job descriptions as your company progresses. Provide a rationale for your response.
Describe three (3) methods to deal with high employee turnover and the availability of employees with required knowledge, skills, or abilities. Next, describe the primary manner in which the described succession-planning methods would be beneficial to your company. Justify your response.

The most important resource within an organization is undoubtedly its staff. It is the human resource that helps in the optimum utilization of the other resources. The success and growth of any organization largely depend on its human resource. Due to this, hiring and retaining staff is one of the most important functions of any organization. Staffing refers to the process of acquiring, training, appraising and compensating the members of staff. It entails acquiring sufficient, and skilled employees who are well motivated and satisfied to achieve the vision of the organization. For effectiveness and success, personnel should be appointed to positions that best suit their talents, attitudes, abilities, and specializations. A good system of staffing helps achieve this. On top of ensuring optimal and efficient utilization of other resources, good staffing also helps reduce the cost of production. By appointing the right personnel to the right jobs at the right time, wastage and mistakes are avoided, hence cutting on the cost of production. By allocating tasks according to one’s specialization and abilities, staffing helps achieve employee satisfaction, which in turn enhances the level of commitment and increases productivity. Staffing also helps meet the present and future needs of the employees, which further boosts their commitment. As organizations become increasingly multidisciplinary, efficient staffing helps promote coordination within the workplace, which in turn improves productivity (Albrecht, Bakker, Gruman, Macey, & Saks, 2015).

The role of scouting for the right talents and hiring them falls under the scope of the human resource manager. Training, legal compliance, employment termination, as well as compensation is also the work of the human resource manager. Company X is an expanding technology company that manufactures and distributes electronic devices. The company has a current workforce of 170 employees. The company recently got contracted to supply surveillance cameras to various government agencies within the state. Following a successful supply of the cameras, the contract will be expanded to cover agencies out of the home state. To achieve this, the facility must be expanded and more staff hired. The new staff to be acquired should include 1 certified quality control engineer, 10 assembly technicians, 1 office support paraprofessional and 1 contract administrator. In this paper, I will explore my role as the human resource manager of Company X in coming up with a staffing plan and applying various staffing models to ensure efficiency, productivity, and growth. The various legal issues that a human resource manager has to deal with, as well as the methods that can be used to reduce employee turnover, are explored.
