In a situation where an employee reports being upset because she felt sexually harassed repeatedly by a male co-worker asking her out on dates, as the manager I would take the complaint seriously by taking the following steps. The first step is to listen attentively to the employee even if the complaints appear to be questionable. I will acknowledge the employees' complain and help her understand that these are some of the challenges at work. During the interview, it is important to keep a neutral perspective. As a manager, it is my role to avoid making judgments but gather important facts about the complaint as suggested by (McDonald, 2012).
As the manager, I will be neutral by giving a chance to the male coworker to defend himself from the allegations made against him. I will interview the male co-worker to gather more information about the complaint.
