For this exercise, students will be broken up into small groups and collaboratively produce an original piece of media based on one of the following categories:
a) a mashup of existing media that provides some critical commentary about media
b) an experimental collage using originally produced images and/or sounds that provides some critical commentary about media
c) a combination of a & b

In addition to the completed group project, each individual student should write a 1-page reflection paper (worth 5 points). In this reflection, you should be able to identify how your project expressively uses the medium in a way that cannot be accomplished with other media. You should also reflect more generally on the process of collaborative media creation.
Final submissions should be posted on NYU classes, including the reflection paper as a file submission and the final media product as either a separate file or a link provided in the “Inline” submission. Each group member is required to create a submission on NYU Classes in order to receive a grade. This exercise will be graded qualitatively out of 10 points, plus the additional reflection paper points (5) to total 15 potential point.
