The Relationship between Income and Race
1. State the relationship between that you are investigating - this is your research question.
Dependent Variable: Income

(c) Describe how the independent variable can affect the dependent variable using economic theory
 Race may influence access to capital and human resources differ by race as those who have studied beyond high school are more likely to earn higher wages and income (Reardon 82). Furthermore, if certain people from the majority dominant racial backgrounds can find more work in high paying jobs than others this influences their earnings and wealth accumulation. Individuals with more skills are competitive and can transfer such skills to different workplaces unlike those without training, education or experience.
2. Data set
(a) Describe the source of the dataset that you are using
 The data is from the U.S. Census Bureau, Current Population Survey, 2017 Annual Social and Economic Supplement. The The Census Bureau publishes annual income estimates for different racial categories.
(b) What is your population of interest?
Non-Hispanic Whites, Asians, Blacks

 There are nominal and scale for the income
i. How are they coded in your data set? (Hint: labeling, string, numbers?)
  The data from the total to the standard error are strings, which contain numbers, letters and other characters. 
4. Descriptive Statistics
(a) Describe the descriptive statistics for each variable
The median income $ 25458 , $ 31713, $ 35,389 for black, white and Asians while the Mean income$ 35822, $ 47716 , $ 54274 for black, white and Asiansi. Describe the distribution of your variables using

Histogram: income distribution (Asian)  Whites and Asians have higher proportion of people earning $97,500 and above compared  to blacks. More than 50% of blacks sampled earned less than  $30,000 compared to 40-50% for both whites and Asians
