- Introduction
- Tobacco is one of the most consumed commodities around the world.
- WHO reports that there are 1.3 billion tobacco users in the world in 2021 (WHO.Int).
- In the United States alone, reports show that nearly 13%, that’s 13 Americans out of 100, are current smokers (CDC.Gov). That’s an average of 30+ daily smokers in the United States alone.
- That does not yet include other sources of nicotine and tobacco substances like e-cigarettes and vapes to name a few.
- How many here among us are tobacco smokers? Nicotine users?
- Does that all mean harm and danger?
- Tobacco is one of the most consumed commodities around the world.
- It is true that nicotine has a lot of harmful effects on our bodies. However, contrary to popular belief, nicotine has benefits for our bodies too.
- Studies show that nicotine has benefits in improving both our memory, and concentration, and even reduces our anxiety (Felman).
- When we consume nicotine, we experience heightened memory, concentration, and memory because of chemicals like norepinephrine and acetylcholine (Felman).
