The dumping of nuclear waste water will cause economic damage to fisheries around Japan and elsewhere in the world. Some argue that Japan's nuclear waste dumping is different because it involves Iodine or Cesium isotopes which are soluble in ocean water and, therefore, easy to diffuse and disperse (Martin, 2018). However, this reading of the issue is somewhat inaccurate. Japan's nuclear waste dumping will contaminate the water, plant, and animal life. Apex predators such as tuna, sharks, and humans are at a significantly higher risk of accumulating radioactivity which can reproduce adverse effects in one lifetime.
