Cellphones have immense benefits to humans, and they have transformed how people interact globally. These benefits should not be limited among people of different ages, and the minimum requirement should be the ability to operate the cellphones. I was once in a situation where my relative's five-year-old son rescued him when he suffered a sudden heart attack. Before then, I had been a proponent of the idea that children below thirteen years should not have a cellphone because of the imminent risks and demerits. But then I asked myself multiple questions and began to dissect the validity of my arguments against children below the age of consent having cellphones. Many questions can be posted to critics of this idea; some of them include, if you were in danger and unable to dial a phone, would you allow a child to use it and find help. If you limited the type of activities children could perform using cellphones, would you allow your child to use them for educational purposes? I bet the obvious answer is yes, and these are critical matters that must be addressed.
Cellphones have immense benefits, and children should be allowed to use them when their guardians or parents have adequately trained them. They help children communicate when they are in emergencies that affect them directly or indirectly. Cellphones unveil opportunities for children to interact with their peers, which boosts their confidence. Cellphones can be used for academic purposes among children, and they are less costly than visiting libraries.
