Hello everyone. In today’s world where the use of social media such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram has become a norm, businesses are faced with the decision of whether or not to have their presence in these platforms. Does it pay to use social media? What role does it play in marketing? Do the benefits outweigh the costs? These are some of the questions business owners ask themselves when contemplating the use of social media. Today I am going to share with you why a business should use social media.
Businesses should use social media because that’s where the modern customers are found. The advancement of technology and the internet has allowed many people to go online and interact with others. People use devices such as phones, tablets, and computers to access social media platforms. According to an article in Forbes.com by Shaw (2018), there were 4.02 billion internet users as per January 2018. This translates to more than half of the world’s population. Furthermore, active users of social media platforms make up 42% of the world’s population (Shaw, 2018). These figures prove that the next customer for a business is probably online. Therefore, businesses should set up a presence in social media to access more customers.
Businesses should also use social media because they offer an inexpensive way of marketing. The use of traditional media such as newspapers and televisions are quite costly for businesses.
