Research Proposal Instructions:

This is going to be a continuation from the previous order. This assignment is titled "Methods" and once again the professor was very unclear with the instructions for this assignment. I am goin to attached the previous assignments. He enjoyed the last paper you did. He did not give any examples to go by this time. The only information I have is what he stated in the syllabus as follows.
Methods
Design of the Study
Describe your general approach to carrying out the study
Restate your research question(s)
Describe important characteristics or features of the design
Indicate any pertinent assumptions about the research process that are associated with this design
Indicate why this design is likely to yield useful results
Role of the researcher
Include statements about past experiences of the researcher that provide familiarity with the topic, the setting, or the informants
Discuss steps taken to gain access to the setting and to secure permission to study the informants or situation
Comment about ethical issues such as maintaining the confidentiality of data, preserving the anonymity of informants, and using the research for intended purposes
Data collection procedures
Indicate the type or types of data to be collected and provide a rationale for the data collection

This study will employ a systematic review because it aims to assess the actions by the government to protect members of the LGBTQ community from hate crimes. A systematic review encompasses a summarization of the available evidence to inform the findings of a study. A systematic review operates by searching, appraising, and collating relevant empirical evidence to mark an effective interpretation of the research objectives and questions (Tawfik, Dila, & Mohamed, 2019). In this study, a quantitative systematic review will be conducted to mark the primary study design. A quantitative systematic review focuses on data collection from numerical or quantitative sources. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses have become powerful tools in investigative studies as they may eliminate the ills linked with conducting large-scale randomized studies.
Conducting a systematic review requires an insightful adherence to specific steps. Primarily, the researcher must ground his/her work on checking the existing reviews. Finding that a study question has been answered should warrant exploration of the research questions extensively (Tawfik, Dila, & Mohamed, 2019). The researcher can then design a robust search strategy that I both reproducible and explicit. That is, the findings of the review should correlate with the primary question of the study. The other vital steps in a systematic review include conducting a literature search, selecting critically appraised studies, extracting the data, and synthesizing the information.
The Research Question
The primary question for this study is: which actions are taken by the government to protect members of the LGBTQ community from hate crimes. This research question stems from a prevalent challenge in contemporary society where members of the LGBTQ community have been targeted by hate crimes primarily due to their sexual orientation. The number of hate crimes among members of LGBTQ has been rising even though statistics from other demographic segments are declining. Hate crimes committed against LGBT community members increased by 26% between 2018 and 2019 alone. In 2017, the estimated number of against LGBTQ members was approximately 30,000. However, only 11,638 of those cases were recorded by the police (Waiton, 2019). Bearing the prevalent data, this study hypothesizes that the government has not taken any action to protect members of LGBTQ from systematic hate crimes.
Features of the Design
A systematic review is characterized by key features that make it vital for a study of this kind. Primarily, systematic reviews employ explicit and transparent techniques. A systematic review aims to find as much as possible about a study’s objectives (Tawfik, Dila, & Mohamed, 2019). As such, it rests on explicit approaches to retrieve all the necessary data. In a sensitive study such as this, encouraging explicit data collection is a necessity. A systematic review is also replicable, updatable, and accountable. This study design is flexible and can allow for the influx of new pieces of information. For instance, matters concerning government interventions can change consistently depending on the legisla...
