Background of the Research Proposal
The research proposal will focus on analyzing health care quality at the San Francisco General Hospital in California. The San Francisco General Hospital is one of the leading medical facilities in the United States of America. It serves thousands of patients annually, a factor that has made it an important medical center in California. The Quality Assurance Officer at San Francisco General Hospital is responsible for ensuring that the quality of medical services offered at the facility is compliant with the required standards.
However, over the recent past, is has been clear that the quality of health care services at San Francisco General Hospital has drastically reduced. The number of patients the hospital is serving has considerably grown to exceed what it can comfortably handle. The medical equipment of the hospital is somehow outdated, and its system of keeping medical records requires an upgrade. As a quality assurance officer of the hospital, I have been mandated to develop a comprehensive proposal with which to increase the healthcare quality at San Francisco General Hospital.
Assumptions of the Research Proposal
1.) The San Francisco General Hospital has adequate resources to implement the proposal with aims to improve the quality of patient care.
2.) The management of San Francisco General Hospital would implement the proposal to the latter.
3.) All patients seeking medical services from San Francisco General Hospital are citizens of the United States of America.
The Analysis of Quality Initiatives at Francisco General Hospital
Good health care services are undoubtedly important for the reputation of any medical facility, including San Francisco General Hospital. With that in mind, it follows unconditionally that the management of the hospital, in collaboration with all its employees in their different capacities of service delivery, should work towards maintaining high quality in healthcare services. It is the duty of the Quality Assurance Officer at the hospital to develop appropriate initiatives with which to improve the health care quality at the hospital. Some of the main quality initiatives embraced at the San Francisco General Hospital includes:
1 The Employment Of More Medical Practitioners
High health care quality is directly proportional to the patient to practitioner ratio (Bruno, Burke & Ulmer, 2010). The San Francisco General Hospital serves tens of thousands of patients each year. It is among the largest medical facilities in California, a factor that makes it preferable to many other facilities in the region. Due to this, the facility attracts many people across the country. With many patients seeking medical attention from the facility, the management of the hospital ought to employ an adequate number of practitioners to offer the required services to all its patients at the required quality standards.
On the verge to curb the challenge of overworking medical practitioners at the hospital, the management of the hospital will have to employ additional qualified doctors to execute medical services to the patients. That way, the patient to practitioner ratio will increase, and the quality of health care services would subsequently improve (Bruno et al., 2010).
2 Expansion Of The Medical Facility And Equipment
The main objective of the San Francisco General Hospital is to improve the medical services among the Ameri...
