Introduction
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is progressively becoming a concern and a worrisome issue. As more and more evidence is produced about the disease and its effects in the healthcare setting, it is important to initiate and implement viable strategies to improve patient outcomes. Indeed, there are a number of recommendations that have been proposed in order to realize such desired outcomes in patients. At the same time, the strong recommendations need to be disseminated or distributed in ways that can be of great benefit in the overall resolution of the COPD menace. This paper seeks to develop a summary of a number of advantageous strategies of dissemination. Such dissemination strategies can be utilized in ensuring that evidence-based research on COPD reaches every desired target. The paper will also consider a certain professional organization relevant in dissemination strategies related to COPD and highlight its importance over other potential organizations.
Dissemination of evidence-based research in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) refers to active distribution of strongly recommended initiatives to desired targets, especially clinicians and patients (their families are also included). The National Institutes of Health (2007) refers to dissemination of such evidence-based research as a formal process that is specifically planned with the intent of spreading interventional strategies as well as knowledge. When the intended interventions and knowledge reach the intended audience, they stimulate adoption and subsequent integration of evidence into routine activities of the audience (Rabin, Brownson, Haire-Joshu, Kreuter, & Weaver, 2008).
