Assessment 1: The accounts of a small business. (Total mark 20%): You are required to write a short business proposal for a new start up (funding up to 10,000 of a currency of your choice). You are required to prepare the books for the business and present a final set of accounts (a Statement of Income and Statement of Financial Position). A minimum of 40 transactions to include all the adjustments (accrued expenses, prepayments, inventory, depreciation and bad debts). You are required to submit:
Part 1a: A proposal by week 3. To be submitted as hard copy at the start of the class (250 words)
Part 1b: A record of 20 transactions by week 4. To be submitted as hard copy at the start of the class

This proposal is an effort by Elite business to establish a small accounting college that will reach out to the many students leaving high school. The start-up college targets one hundred students, whereby, four classes will be constructed to accommodate twenty five students per class.
Accounting is a course that has seen many students succeed, therefore, it is an identified opportunity to help other upcoming accountants receive the best teaching. Accounting is a profession that requires excellent teaching and guidance. The college will engage expertise in this particular field to ensure best results and learning experiences.
Most of other accounting colleges are expensive, therefore, Elite College intends to provide accounting services at affordable fees to accommodate all students from different backgrounds. If young minds are natured at an early stage, that will mark the beginning of a promising victory.
