Ethical Analysis Paper Instructions

After completing the course readings and viewing the course presentations, you will write a 3-FULL paper evaluating the Christian’s role in ethical research. This assignment must be formatted in current Turabian style and include a title page, sectional headings, and a bibliography. It must also utilize 3–5 sources, which may include course materials (textbooks and presentations) and Scripture, and must include at least 1 scholarly source. • Does the Christian have a greater ethical role than secular counterparts?
  • What is the Christian’s ethical foundation in life?
  • How does this ethical foundation for the Christian impact his or her research and vocational action?
  • What does Scripture have to say about ethics and the Christian’s responsibility to act ethically?

Introduction
From time immemorial, researchers have been using crooked ways when doing their researches. For instance, during the World War II the physicians in the Nazi regime used Jewish captives to research on the effectiveness of their war machinery something that raised concerns over what is right to do when it comes to researching especially on human subjects. The Nuremburg Code, for instance, was a product of the concerns raised over unethical research methods. From this code, we see other laws and guidelines being enacted to further protect subjects in research.
The idea of ethical research seems to have more base than just enacting laws. There are many underlying factors that contributed to the convening of people to come together and regulate the most abused research process. Christian teachings were among some of the factors and in fact, they are the basis upon which all other rules and regulations are drawn. Psalms 14:1-4 says that, “The fool has said in his heart, that ‘There is no God.’…they are corrupt, they have committed abominable deeds; There is no one who does good. The Lord has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men. To see if there are any who understand, who seek after God. They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; There is no one who does good, not even one. Do all workers of wickedness not know; Who eat up my people as they eat bread; And do not call upon the Lord?” This serves to direct people to respect what is written and respect those around them for everyone is a creation of God.
Ethical Research
The term ethics may be used to mean the criteria by which people establish the difference between what is wrong and what is right. As such, Christians have the Biblical scriptures as their basis of establishing what is wrong and right. In that case, what the Holy Book does not permit is seen as not right and should be avoided. This connotes the reason why we need to have values that are based on the scriptures hence the need for directions from the Christian community on every aspect of life especially on matters to do with what is wrong or right. There are many concerns in research that need to be addressed from the scripture’s perspective. These include honesty, integrity, being careful and social responsibility. All these are concerns that need to be addressed under the following sub headings.
Christian Role In Ethical Research.
Christians or Christianity in that matter, have played a crucial role in the widely discussed discipline of ethics. Not only have they worked, although sometimes parallel to their philosophical counterparts, towards reaching a consensus on what should be acceptable as right, but they have also been ready to give direction on matters concerning questions such as: What should be considered good? What goals need to be followed? What character a human being should have? What actions constitute a wrong? What acts are right to be done? And; What are the justified structures in the society?
