Arctic National Wildlife Refuge
Introduction
It is essential to come up with plans that will ensure that there is increased environmental conservation for social and economic development of the community. The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) is a home to a variety of animals and plants due to the proper climatic conditions to sustain vulnerable species. According to Wernick (2017), the common animals in the areas include birds, wolves, muskoxen, grizzly and polar bears. The discovery of oil and natural gases in the area has led to some individuals having a view to drilling the area to acquire the economic benefits of the products. The study focuses on the effects of drilling oil and natural gases in the Alaska 1002 Area on environmental conservation and wildlife habitat.
Oil in the ANWR
The seismic tests indicate that there are billions of barrels of oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. There have been long debates about the drilling of oil and natural gas to improve the economic growth in the region. ANCR can offer over 1.5 million barrels of oil per day, which is approximately 25% domestic production of the energy products (Anwr.org, 2017). Prudhoe Bay is found in the North part of Alaska, where there have been millions of barrels of oil found in the region. Proper evaluation of the drilling is required in ensuring that there is a sustainable economic development in the region. The seismic survey conducted shows that there has been a continuous development of oil and natural gases in the region making the economists consider drilling the product. The reports on a survey conducted in the region show that there will be an increased economic growth of the region through the discovery of the oil and natural gases. The 1002 Area has the most amount of oil, requiring researchers to ensure that there is an evaluation of the needs of animals and plans to come up with a strategy that will effectively control the oil supply.
The government has focused on ensuring that stakeholders of ANWR support the drilling of oil in the region. The US president Donald Trump has included drilling of oil and natural gases in Alaska in the 2018 budget plan (Wernick, 2017). The department of fish and wildlife services in the U.S. has agreed to start the drilling of the oil for economic benefits in the regions. The residents in the area are against the drilling due to the destruction of the area, once the drilling starts for economic purposes. The native people are being convinced of the need for drilling and measures to take to ensure there is a reduced destruction of the area. Environmental conservation is required to be the primary objective when developing policies to drill oil and natural gases in a wildlife habitat. The climate changes in drilling require proper evaluation to ensure that there is an achievement of macroeconomic goals by the nation.
Transportation of the oil
The oil and natural gases drilled require to be properly transported to ensure that the needs of individuals at different places are met. Denali Fault in Alaska is a challenge of coming up with proper channels to transport the products. Proper channels are required to ensure a suitab...
