SUBJECT: Strategies for Mitigating Air Pollution in China
China is a global contributor to global warming and air pollution with sixteen of the twenty global cities that are regarded as high air pollutants being located in the country. I am greatly concerned with the issue of air pollution in the country because of the effects it has had on the citizens and the environment. Air pollution in China has contributed to a large number of individuals dying from respiratory diseases caused by the toxic gases in the environment. The major pollutants in the country are industries, traffic, and household use of fossil fuels. The high emissions, which result from these practices demand effective strategies to mitigate the risks and reduce pollution in the country. To effectively deal with the issue, it would be best for the country to put more emphasis on encouraging individual level prevention methods, raising awareness through campaigns, and reducing dependency on coal in industries.
Solutions
To deal with the issue, it would be best to encourage the citizens of China to adopt means of preventing the activities that result in emissions of harmful gasses. Awareness campaigns are also useful in educating the masses on the effects, causes, and prevention of air pollution. Moreover, encouraging industries to adopt renewable energy would eliminate the risk of carbon emissions as a result of burning fuels.
The responsibility of the Ministry
As the Head of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, your main agenda is to ensure that the people and industries sustainably conduct their activities. The ministry can implement these proposals by requesting funding from the government and other non-governmental agencies to fund campaign programs. The ministry can also push for regulations and policies to force industries to switch to renewable energy.
By focusing the country’s attention to these three strategies, China can be able to reduce air pollution and its associated effects.

Solution to a Global Problem
Introduction
Air pollution is a global problem that continues to reduce the average life expectancy of individuals. The World Health Organization, a specialized agency under the United Nations that deals with international public health, claims that “air pollution is responsible for an estimated 7 million deaths annually” (2). Because of this high number of reported deaths, air pollution causes more risk to respiratory health globally as compared to other environmental health risks (Vargas, Patricia, and Teran, 1032). China is considered to be a major polluter because of its fast economic growth that has been experienced in the country over the last forty years. High levels of pollution in China have been recorded since 1980 when the country recorded a Total Suspended Particle of 1,501 µg/m3 (Stoerk). Out of the twenty global cities that are considered to have the worst air pollution, s...
