Reason behind the low level of voting among the African Americans

Research Question: What is the reason behind the low level of voting among the African Americans compared to their Caucasian counterparts in the United States?
Hypothesis: The feelings of political alienation are responsible for the low turnout of African-American voters.
The information to test the hypothesis is obtained from secondary sources, mainly the government statistics on elections. The reason why secondary sources are used is because they provide already recorded information with ease and hence the method is time saving and cost effective.
