Located on the eastern banks of the river of Buriganga within the Bengal delta, Dhaka city is Bangladesh’s capital city. This is a city that has its history dating back to the 16 century. While much of the development through the years has been through the natural manner, most of it has been through the various urban morphology strategies implemented by design. As such, Dhaka has not always been the metropolis it is today since it all started as a trifling Hindu trading hub. As of the year 2008, the city was home to more than 7 million people within the 815 square kilometres of special range.
Today, the population is past the 15 million mark and growing, meaning it is inching closer to the top five largest cities in the world (Farida). Given that the city is the largest in Bangladesh, it is a host of many recreational facilities for the citizens especially the city dwellers and the tourists. There are several arks that have been known to attract tourists from all over the country and those from abroad visiting the country. These include the Dhaka zoo, national botanical garden, Ramna Park and the Shishu Park among others. Of all the recreational facilities that are in the city of Dhaka, the Hatirjheel Begunbari scores all the points for the best project.
Being the capital city of Bangladesh, Dhaka is highly populated and there is a concentration of social facilities ranging from education institutions such as universities, health facilities, roads, railways, government facilities and hotels among others. Much like majority of the cities, these facilities are concentrated in the city due to the demand and the chances of capitalizing on the economic stardom.
