The Bible Opposes The Homosexuality (Research Paper Sample)

Times New Roman, size 12, and double-spaced. At the top of the first page, above your title, include the word count in grey font. Include your properly formatted (either MLA or Chicago style) works cited page at the end, and in-text citations throughout your paper where appropriate.
Things your paper should have:
Clearly stated thesis (thesis should answer a question; e.g. "What is baptism?" thesis: "Baptism is...").
At least 3 major body sections that support the various parts of the thesis.
Body sections (one or more paragraphs) include citations to Scripture and credible theological sources.
Clearly presented counter-argument (a counter-argument contradicts some or part of your thesis). For example, if my thesis is, "Baptism is God's gracious work applied to an individual with water, in the name of the Triune God. It forgives sins, grants the Holy Spirit, and unites the individual to Christ's death and resurrection," then my counterargument would contradict some part of that thesis. Something like, "Baptism is man's obedient work to demonstrate his commitment to Christ," or "Baptism does not forgive sins, but helps us remember Christ's forgiving work on the cross." A really good counterargument will cite a credible theologian who holds that position, and then argue from Scripture against that position.
Address the counterargument, explaining from Scripture and theological research why you stick to your thesis in spite of the counterargument.
An introduction that introduces the topic, explains its significance, and contains your thesis.
A conclusion that restates the thesis and briefly reemphasizes or comments on anything from the body paragraphs or counterargument section. No new material should be here.
A properly formatted Works Cited page (6+ credible sources).
Consistently formatted in-text citations (either parenthetical or footnotes) throughout the paper where needed.
The final product (NOT INCLUDING citations and the Works Cited page) should be 1500-1600 words. You should have the word count in grey font somewhere above your title (just put the count in the header for the first page).

Homosexuality is the feeling of romantic or sexual desire towards people of the same gender. It also involves engaging in sexual activities with persons of the same gander. The culture of homosexuality has gained ground over the last two decade with some churches officiating same gay marriages. This unique trend has raised uproar among various religious sects with each having a different opinion about the subject. The Christian faith is based on the word of God that is presented to all Christians through the Bible (Estep, et al.). Discussed below are accounts from the Bible concerning Homosexuality.
The first account of homosexuality in the bible is presented in the book of Genesis19. The men of Sodom are described as attempting forcibly have sexual intercourse with the two angelic visitors sent to the city by God. It is not written that homosexuality in the read, however accounts in other parts of the bible suggests of this. In the book of Jude1:7, in the New Testament, Jude narrate how the people of Sodom and Gomorrah indulged in “Unnatural desire” that lead to their punishment. This strange desire described by Jude is homosexuality because he further insists that the men desired to have sex with Lot’s visitor and were unaware that they were angels.
In the book of Leviticus 18:22 the bible says “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.” (Crossway)The scripture forbade any form of gay activity. The description of lying with a male as with a woman is a clear illustration of what homosexuality entails. The surrounding of this scripture forbids of other sexual sins such as incest, bestiality, and adultery, but the writer goes ahead and gives a vivid description of the gay act. In Leviticus 20:13 the bibles says “If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.” (Crossway)God gives the penalty of such an abomination as death. This clearly shows that Yahweh is not pleased with the act and forbids it in all manners. Christians that believe in the word of God and does what it says are aware of the stand of their maker concerning the subject. Proponents of gay relationships insist that Christ finished the Old Testament laws and Christians ought to live by the new covenant in the New Testament (Rogers). A statement that is contrary since the Bible is the word of God, and His word does not change regardless of the season or situation.
In the New Testament apostle Paul says in Romans 1:26-27 “For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.” (Crossway)These verses describe how it was not God intended purpose for people to be gay. The cause of nature that God predestines is pervaded when human indulge in gay activities. When people reject God as in the case of the Roman in the above passage they start craving for what they are naturally not designed to crave. The word “nature” here refers to God’s intended will and not an individual natural sexual fantasy. Guy activists argue vainly that in this passage Paul is speaking of same-sex behavior motivated by lust and rather homosexuals should seek a self-giving love relationship.
