The Egyptian pyramids are undoubtedly the most magnificent and remarkable ancient structures which are up to today are among the world’s leading wonders. There are more than a hundred pyramids in Egypt that are visible up to today and constitute an essential part of Egypt history as well as immensely contributing to archaeology and country economy through tourism. Some of the outstanding structures were built for the burial of the Egyptian kings (pharaohs) after their bodies had been mummified for preservation. This was of great significance since the Egyptians believed that the dead pharaoh became the king of the dead and failure to provide him with whatever he required a catastrophe would befall the country (Shklovski and Sagan 37; Colavito 2005).
However, considering that by the time some of the Egyptian pyramids were built there is no evidence of civilization and the technology which was used to build these spectacle structures is far much advanced, then the question of who really built those pyramids arises. So is it really that the Egyptians or (aliens or possibly a lost civilization) built the pyramids? This is with consideration to the sophistication of the technology that might have been used to built the pyramids and the time when these structures might have been built (Shklovski and Sagan 83). A number of history writers have proposed that extraterrestrial beings which are intelligent have visited Earth in prehistory. Such visitors are referred to as ancient aliens or ancient astronauts. Proponents of this theory suggest that the contact of human beings with these aliens greatly influenced the development of their technologies, cultures and religions (Colavito 2005). Therefore, it is possible that these aliens are the ones who built some of the world’s ancient and magnificent structures such as the Great pyramid in Egypt as well as the Moai stone heads of Easter Island or else the helped the human beings in building them (Charroux 122).
Considering the Great Pyramid which is in existence up to today and the one which still fascinates many people today it would become evident that it was built earlier than what is accepted and it was built using technology beyond human understanding and capability. For instance, it is believed that the Great Pyramid was built over a 20 year span and it is so perfect and huge that even scientists using modern technology are currently not able to construct something that will compare (Edwards 56). Each of the giant stones used to built this pyramid weight ranges from 1 to 20 tons and the overall number of stones used to build the Great Pyramid are beyond 100,000. But by then the Egyptians didn’t have engines, machinery or construction equipment making the question of who really built these magnificent structures to continue lurking (Lehner 43).
