A recent research study by a German agency carried out in 205 countries indicates that forty percent of the world’s population is left brain dominant, twenty seven percent are right brain dominant and 32 percent use both hemispheres in equal measure. The research also indicated that 57 percent of the male participants in the study are left brain dominant while fifty percent of female participants tap on to both hemispheres when making decisions (Sommer n.p).Right brain dominant persons are often times left handed. They possess artistic innovative capabilities and their thought process is sometimes viewed as unconventional. This thinking tendency often yields originality and innovations. Many left handed and right brain dominant persons venture into careers that involve creative thinking, spontaneity, analytical and logical skills (Smith n.p).
Creative people are more likely to be right brain dominant and left handed. They are more likely to thick visually and be creative. They also have better eye to hand coordination which makes them better in most ball sports and arts such as painting (Jarret n.p). Logical and mathematical people are more likely to be left brain dominant and right handed. Logical mathematical people process information in a linear format that involves arranging data in a logical order and working out conclusions. Left brain dominant persons find it easy to analyze symbols and mathematical notations. They are most likely to memorize math formulas and are comfortable with mathematical endeavors (Jarret n.p).
