Education is perceived as the key to success and by offering it to our children means that we are empowering everyone to succeed in life. This might not be the case if there are unequal standards. With widespread educational inequality, we are offering our children unequal chances to succeed in life (Greg J. Duncan). This means that one’s success will depend majorly on ethnicity and financial status. This phenomenon is best established in the wider America; it is a time-bomb waiting to explode.
Considering major cities like New York, many public schools are frequented by the blacks and the Hispanics. The whites, majorly, take their children to better private institutions. The level of resources also differs. According to the Public Education report by Schott Foundation, in New York City, communities where the city’s poor were culminated are grossly affected by the city’s norms and policies that allocate the least resources to these public schools and also the least-experienced teachers (Jackson). Some consider this realism and may not even ask or hope for equality in such sector but instead live within their ‘means’.
