Brandy Melville is a fashion and clothing brand that produces products for young women and teenage girls. It was founded in 1970 by Silvio Marsan and his son Stephan in Italy. Having established itself in the United Kingdom with more than 40 stores in Italy, Brandy Melville ventured into the US market in 2009, with its first store in Westwood adjacent to the University of California, Los Angeles (The Fashion Law). Jessy Longo opened the store after much discussion with Silvio Marsan. Currently, Brandy Melville has 27 stores across Europe and Canada. The members at the stores in Italy are tasked with the duty of designing and manufacturing all the merchandise by Brandy Melville. However, the company seeks to adapt to different styles as well as the level of affordability of different customers. Having ventured into the American market, the company shifted their designs to suit the needs of the American shopper. Aside from its stores, Brandy Melville uses social media to market its products. Up until 2014, the company had very little recognition on a worldwide scale. Its stateside launch in 2009 made the brand more popular among teenage girls in high schools across the United States. Its success in America has enabled the brand to open up eleven more stores across California, six stores on the East Coast, and one in Hawaii. For online marketing, the company highly utilizes its Instagram page to make its products known to its followers.
