Research Paper Instructions:

The capstone in the class involves the creation of a more developed, research-based, analysis paper. Specifically, in this paper, you will be asked to draw conclusions about what you see in a film and place those conclusions in a broader social context.
The basis of this paper will be the Craig and Castle articles you will read in this class. These articles are similar in that they both look at the role and responsibilities of the audience in the narrative process.  Castle looks at that by examining how audiences create traps and Craig looks at it in terms of how the audience decides what is real/fantasy--true/false. Essentially, the process by which we determine what is true and real as discussed by Craig does impact the audience’s reaction to The Truman Show (the audience in the movie responding to the fictional TV show in the movie) and therefore that does influence the audience behaviors Castle is referring to in his article.Looking at these films and articles, your assignment is to find a similar analytic focus which looks at the role of the audience in the narrative process which you would like to develop. You should then develop that analytic thesis in a 1500 word analytic research paper.
As noted in the Paramagiore and Wallis reading, this is a research paper, and you must use at least three outside analytic sources (beyond any films or similar artifacts you reference) to frame that context for your paper (while you should use the Castle and/or Craig articles and may use other class readings as sources, and therefore should site those, this requirement is for three additional outside sources). These sources should be proper, high-quality academic sources. They should not be descriptive/statistical or more focused on the entertainment perspective.  IMDB and similar sources are fine for background--and should be cited if used, but for an academic paper, you need sources which examine a film or its context in more depth. In addition, you should avoid more entertainment-based, less analytic sources like rev

Absurd Filmmakers and Entertainment Companies
Introduction,
One major goal that a filmmaker has to achieve when creating a piece is ensuring that the movie not only entertains, but also makes it has some relatable truth in it (Taberham 76). Most viewers want something that they can relate with, rather than movies that are filled with a lot of fantasy. In the entertainment industry, many movies have been produced, but unfortunately received thumbs-downs due to the overly fictions nature. Many things are looked at in determining the genuineness of the movie. Film makers are tasked with the responsibility of finding good actors, matching costumes, and the correct graphics, only to mention a few of the filmmaking needs.
One thing that filmmakers need to understand is that they need to give the audience what they want. They should not however take responsibility of the results or rather effects the movie will have. Many directors want to create something unique and captivating, so that the show can get approvals and much viewing. As so to say, a viewer should be careful in the movies they watch so as not to be offended. A thing to note that for a movie to be on air, it must have received all legal rights and thus, whether or not it affects a viewer is not a filmmaker’s choice. The case of the movie The Truman Show, many issues arises due to the treatment of the main character, Truman, and how the media causes a kind of programmed life for him. The maker of the film creates a fantasy based on the protagonist’s real life.
The Truman Show
Truman show is a movie that majorly focuses on a happily married man whose life is being taped. As seen from the movie, Truman’s life is taped shortly before he was born and thirty years later into his life. There are secret cameras all over the place, and the people have secret microphones since they are acting. Truman does not know any of these. He presumes to be leading a good life. Anything that he does is already programmed. One thing that is evident is how everyone is working to ensure that he remains in the island. His job mates convince him not to quit job. When he tries to book a plane out of the island the airport attendants give him some weird reasons as why not to.
Many instances from the movie make Truman appear like a fool so as to bring out the characterization required. An instance is when he enters into the car and the radio starts talking about him. In as much as he gets concerned, he does not go to check out on it. One thing is that the other characters, from his wife, mother and workmates do make him look stupid. Anytime Truman raises concern on some funny stuff, he is bashed off, hence life appears normal. We need to know that all this is being done so as to ensure that the filming can continue for as long, without Truman knowing it. These are really dehumanizing instances.
The show, as the audience expected, is supposed to present this wonderful life of Truman. To the disappointment of many, the show is the exact opposite. There are some instances in the show that bring out the hyperbolical nature of the film. One thing is the effect that the treatment of Truman has to the audience. M...
