By definition, Bulimia nervosa refers to an eating disorder that is usually characterized by bender eating of large amount of food and on the other hand the patient struggles to avoid gaining weight at the same time. This kind of disorder usually affects men and women regardless of their age. For patients who struggle with Bulimia, their aim is either to remain thin, lose weight or struggles with the large amount of food. Research indicates that 80% of women are usually affected with Bulimia and they can also consume up to 5000 calories in an hour. However, many patients with Bulimia tend to do more exercise and even other avoid eating in order to reduce the amount of weight in their body. In other circumstances such patients will resort to purging which may involve taking of laxatives or even through vomiting. Constant vomiting by a patient might lead to tooth decay and thickened skin of the body. In addition, patients with Bulimia tend also to have mental disorders like anxiety, Depression and other problems that are associated with alcohol or drugs. According to research, Bulimia can be spread through relatives in form of genetics. Across the world it was estimated that more than 6 million people were affected by Bulimia in the year 2013. Nevertheless, bulimia has some of the primary treatments to correct the situation. However, Bulimia is not very common in the developing countries.
