Introduction
Scholarly evidence shows that the explosion of crime is the United States is attributable to the loss of family capacity especially, loss of the father or mother's responsibility in caring for their children’s up-bringing. Such loss of authority at times is connected to poverty and discrimination. The loss of love and guidance at some of the crucial points in marriages and family set-up broadly impacts the children socially. This eventually spreads to the entire community and ultimately becomes a societal vice. Empirically, many young men and women from broken marriages as well as families tend to have some level of weaker connection to the environment hence tend to fulfill their unmet needs and desires through dire exploitation of the neighborhood (Gotea and Busuioc, 2016). Such scenarios create a sense of looseness within the community, therefore, leading to social chaos within the neighborhood and eventually crime.
Consequences of a one-parent family
The sociologist's perspective points to the fact that crime development takes place in stages that are associated with some of the major psychological as well as sociological factors. Such factors are a function normal tasks that child confronts as they grow up. Such tasks, as they accumulate in the long-run lead to violent criminals, poor academic achievement, higher school absentee, school dropout and drug abuse this is due to the absence of joint dedication from the parents on the areas of love and affection. This eventually frustrates the children's needs therefore, stagnating their ability to have a sense of belonging (Lamanna, Riedmann & Stewart, 2014). The general disruption at different stages of development due to poor parenthood (Early infancy, mid-childhood, adolescence) can create some instances for criminal behavior that eventually affects the health of the community (Gotea and Busuioc, 2016).
Fatherless families easily create a condition that predisposes the children to different anti-societal activities such as drug abuse. This usually results from inadequate supervision from the mothers, and the mothers being unable to provide the required affection and discipline (Lamanna, Riedmann & Stewart, 2014). The majority of the children from broken families tend to suffer rejection from their peers and at the same time struggle at school which eventually encourages them to embrace criminal activities. The family atmosphere that is marred with conflict, abandonment, as well as rejection compels the child to seek a place to belong especially outside the home (Gotea and Busuioc, 2016). The high probability is that such a child finds solace amongst peers who are experiencing similar rejection at their homes. They eventually begin conveying and forming their own methods of acceptance since they lack caring adults.
