Homeland security is all the activities that focus on deterring, preventing, and defending the United States against internal threats (Sylves 2019). The national security department puts the interest of the nation first and fights any terrorists that could be targeting the US. Currently, the country faces three categories of threats: Continuous hostile military attacks, state-sponsored traditional asymmetric threats: and foreign terrorism (Riedeman & Warden 2017)). Homeland security was, in particular, established to deal with terrorist threats and comprises 22 federal wings. The Homeland security Department was reformed to include the 22 government bodies after the September 2001 terrorist attack famously 9/11.
On the other hand, Homeland defense focuses on protecting the sovereignty enjoyed by the United States, the territorial boundary local citizens plus the land terrain from attacks by external enemies or aggression (Baggett & Simpkins 2018). A review into the homeland security report shows that it majorly emphasizes on the need to involve a joint action informally discrete elements of the public.
