Bentham identifies pleasure and consequences accompanying morality in societies. Actions taken by individuals can be right or wrong, depending on the society judging the effects (Lenel, 2020). If by particular community moral barometer, the actions by individuals lead them to pleasure, then the consequences of not doing so have to be examined. If these consequences would lead to no pleasure, then the theory is morally wrong. The consequences will result in more pleasure if the act is undertaken than if it was not done. Such a situation arises from ethically wrong actions. It is important to note that the consequences mentioned here are those to the perpetrators of the specific acts. The victims of such actions, if any, are would not enjoy the same pleasures. Additionally, one who does a morally wrong act, is himself seeking specific pleasures.
