The practice of health care providers at all levels brings you into contact with people of a variety of faiths. This calls for acceptance of a diversity of faith expressions. Research three diverse faiths. Choose faiths that are less well-known than mainstream faiths or are less known to you, such as Sikh, Bahai, Buddhism, Shintoism, Native American spirituality, etc. Compare the philosophy of providing care from the perspective of each of these three faiths with that of the Christian perspective and your own personal perspective. In 1,250 -1500 words, summarize your findings, and compare and contrast the different belief systems, reinforcing major themes with insights gained from your research. Some of the questions to consider when researching the chosen religions are: 1. What is the spiritual perspective on healing? 2. What are the critical components of healing, such as prayer, meditation, belief, etc.? 3. What is important to people of a particular faith when cared for by health care providers whose spiritual beliefs differ from their own? 4. How do patients view health care providers who are able to let go of their own beliefs in the interest of the beliefs and practices of the patient? Compare these beliefs to the Christian philosophy of faith and healing. In your conclusion, describe what you have learned from your research and how this learning can be applied to a health care provider practice. This assignment uses a grading rubric. Instructors will be using the rubric to grade the assignment; therefore, students should review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the assignment criteria and expectations for successful completion of the assignment. Introduction
The contemporary society is characterized by cultural diversity as a result of the diverse societal values and religious beliefs held by different societies. Their foundations and beliefs have been passed over down generations into the 21st century. With these many cultures and attributes that have been developed and passed from the older centuries into the modern community, it is important and necessary in supporting human morals and community integration. Thus, from the modernism and integrating of different cultures, societies have evolved over from time and time regarding different aspects about human development and lifestyles, (Maguire, 2001). These are among the many concepts in the community that have been brought about by the existence of different religions and cultures. Therefore, as a result of these diverse instances of community development, religion has been used in the forefront of observing the necessary instances of human faith and care. Above all there are different religious forms and faiths of diversity that offer different practices on the preservation of human life and promotion of human health. The baseline is developing the society into ethics, and morals in accordance to the different religions observed by different cultures.
Religion in Health Care
Among the many concepts that are important in the society is the development and conservation of human nature. The importance of these aspects of human nature is manifested in developing and supporting human survival and healthy living. From a religious point of view, human health is important in promoting balanced living in terms of fulfilling individuals’ spiritual and physical needs. In Christianity, for example, Jesus Christ taught that the human body is a temple of the Lord; hence, there is need of maintaining that Temple through nourishment of the body. Accordingly, consumption of alcohol and tobacco smoking is discouraged because t harms the body. In this regard, applying the teachings of different religions helps in determining the appropriate approaches in care delivery for people from different cultural and religious backgrounds. This is because there various religious beliefs that differ from Christianity and offer different cultures based their views on healing and health care delivery (Young & Koopsen, 2005).
