In the case of Esquel and Amazon, certain aspects arise from the articles Robots will help Chinese firms cope with wages and the trade war and Amazon’s $15 minimum wage is welcome. One of the issues that arise from the articles is the fact that Esquel is using something that traditionally is known to cut costs and reduce the number of employees to make the environment better for its employees. As per the article, Esquel plans to use robots to not only motivate its employees but also figure out a way to increase their wages. Robots in business are considered as alternatives to mankind, and their efficiency and effectiveness is unmatched. However, Esquel appears to have considered its workforce first and thus are trying to supplement them and making sure they also benefit from the upgrade. Amazon, on the other hand, is also trying to improve the status of its employees by increasing their wages. However, while Amazon’s move appears to be political and not motivated by any ounce of goodwill, Esquel’s move is mainly grounded in the management’s vision in not only making their employee's environment conducive but their work a lot easier. One of the fundamental factors that affect the performance of any organization are the employees. The performance of the employees is what moves companies to be where they are and power them to where they wish to go. Looking at the two organizations under study, it is clear that they treat their employees differently. While one is ready and willing to work and partner with its workforce, the other is using its influence to try and motivate its workers to enhance their productivity. Basing the arguments on what is included in the two articles, this paper thus seeks to discuss how relationships between organizations and their employees can help driver performance and enhance productivity. One thing that can be used to help motivate employees is wages. When the efforts of an organization’s employees are recognized and rewarded with increases in their salaries, the effect is that productivity will increase. Employees do want to feel seen, and when the environment they are in allows them to thrive, their productivity will automatically increase. Looking at the two organizations under review, it is clear that each is ready to enhance the productivity of their employees. However, the approach appears a little different. Esquel is trying to use mechanization to increase its employees’ wages. Amazon, on the other hand, is working from a political angle and even though it is not clear, there seems to be some political pressure behind its move. As an employee, it is always crucial to consider the commitment of an organization to its promises as well as the motive behind the promises. Amazon as the articles admits is gigantic and “can probably stomach the extra labour costs better than most firms.” The article continues to say that “Amazon’s market position may allow the firm to be more generous than other employers.” This confirms that Amazon is acting from ...
