By all means if it is made mandatory for any course, it would go a long way to preparing candidates to life after school. The internships can help them reevaluate the marketability of their course, relevance to the industry and or society at large and also increase their employment prospects. According to CITATION Mat18 \l 1033 (Hora, 2018), former interns are twice as likely to get a good job upon graduation as other students are. In this age, graduates are taking longer to find jobs. In one study, CITATION Bus17 \l 1033 (Busteed & Auter, 2017) found out that only 27% of graduates had a good job waiting for them after graduation and it takes more than a year for the other 16% to get a good job. Additionally, internships also help students gain practical experience of the respective industries they intend to work later. In some cases, some higher learning institutions award marks for going for internships. Some students benefit from this system by earning credits for taking the internship. They also build networks which help them to find jobs upon graduation. Statistics and found out that these statistics clearly show that the education system as it is (without mandatory internships) is already failing and has adversely affected the employability rate of many students. The only alternative to work around the issue to introduce the mandatory internships and enable students to tap into these benefits of taking them before graduating.
