Translating Evidence Into Practice Research Assignment

Research Paper Instructions:

Paper must be written on topic MDD(see attached files)
To prepare:
•Consider Parts 1 and 2 of your Course Project. How does the research address your PICOT question?
•With your PICOT question in mind, identify at least one nursing practice that is supported by the evidence in two or more of the articles from your literature review. Consider what the evidence indicates about how this practice contributes to better outcomes.
•Explore possible consequences of failing to adopt the evidence-based practice that you identified.
•Consider how you would disseminate information about this evidence-based practice throughout your organization or practice setting. How would you communicate the importance of the practice?
To complete:
In a 3- to 4-page paper:
•Restate your PICOT question and its significance to nursing practice.
•Summarize the findings from the articles you selected for your literature review. Describe at least one nursing practice that is supported by the evidence in the articles. Justify your response with specific references to at least 2 of the articles.
•Explain how the evidence-based practice that you identified contributes to better outcomes. In addition, identify potential negative outcomes that could result from failing to use the evidence-based practice.
•Outline the strategy for disseminating the evidence-based practice that you identified throughout your practice setting. Explain how you would communicate the importance of the practice to your colleagues. Translating Evidence into Practice
Restate your PICOT question and its significance to nursing practice.
Elements of depression in adolescents are often hard to diagnose, and on most occasions, they are dismissed as tantrums. The PICOT question with regards to this research is, in assessing the American population aged between 12-18 who are students (P), is it necessary to develop a tool that would be used in analyzing depression (I), as compared to other approaches to care (C) that ensures that effective procedures are implemented in detecting depression (O) within a specific period (T)? The adolescent age is often seen or regarded as the most difficult. According to the Netmums, a parenting website, parents believe that coping with teenagers is hard and stressful than caring for newborn babies. The implication of the above statement is that even when teens are dealing or battling real issues, some parents fail to notice. MDD or Major Depressive Disorder is a condition that can affect anyone and since time immemorial healthcare organizations have had standard practices to help deal with the issue. The PICOT question above, however, questions these methods and gifts the nursing practice a new research agenda as well as an alternative to the standard methods of dealing with MDD. It is indeed crucial and necessary to detect depression early before one either becomes suicidal or resorts to drug abuse.
Summarize the findings from the articles you selected for your literature review. Describe at least one nursing practice that is supported by the evidence in the articles. Justify your response with specific references to at least 2 of the articles.
The medical dictionary defines screening as the process of “detecting health risks or problems by means of history, examination, and other procedures (including measurements of vision, development, blood pressure, weight,etc.).”This nursing practice is often preferred during the diagnosis stage and helps doctors and nurses to suppressmajor health concerns and issues in patients.
The Use of standard practices in dealing with MDD in adolescents has been questioned by researchers who suggest the use of screening tools. Dihigo (2013), for example, focused on the use of BDI-II and CES-DC. In her study, Dihigo concluded that BDI-II and CES-DC are indeed tools that can be used to diagnose adolescents for MDD. Williams et al. (2011) echoed Dihigo’s views that a break from the traditional methods is needed. Additionally, Williams and his colleagues recommended the adoption of PHQ-9 and HADS-D, particularly for depressive disorders.
PHQ-9 was indeed preferred by other researchers such as Ali, Ryan, and De Silva who in their 2016 study concluded that it is indeed a useful tool for identifying depressive disorders in adolescents. Allgaier et al. (2016) went a step further and did a comparative study of PHQ-9 and PHQ-2. According to their findings, PHQ-9 is a better depressive disorder screening tool for adolescents than PHQ-2 and should thus be incorporated into the nursing practice. On the other hand, Salemo and Barnhart evaluated and concluded that Rapid As...
