Stress can be described as physical and emotional strains as a result of response to the pressure from the daily occurrence (Hawes, 2009). Nursing is one of the professions that highly contribute stress among nurses. Nurses operate on a wider scope compared to other health care professions. Nurses ensure that patients are well-cared for, at the same time offering quality services. They also maintain the code of ethics and conduct continuous health education for wide range of patients (Hawes, 2009). Due to the mental, psychological and social demands, nurses are stressed because of the workload, complexities of work and too much responsibility bestowed on them. Nursing environment is sensitive as it requires one to be more cautious in taking care of patients by ensuring safety. This exposes nurses to dangerous satiation as they might lack the necessary equipment to meet the demands according to their standards required. Toxic substance and work posture are some of the issues that cause stress in a nursing environment (American Psychological Association, 2015).
