1. Quantitative and qualitative research description
The quantitative study mainly concentrated on evaluating publications in various palliative care journals. These journals discussed mainly the quality of life in palliative care patients. Since palliative care is determined by the evidence-based decision-making process, this is only possible by analyzing current research evidence (Kumar, 2012). The research is termed as quantitative since it focused on the essential objectives of clinical palliative care and how this can improve the quality of life of a patient.
The research additionally has its main objective of palliative care which enabled the researchers to make generalizations about the outcomes from the selected articles in the study (Kumar, 2012). Also, the study focused on the measurement of the incidences that may not have involved palliative care and the quality of care for the patients was affected.
In the qualitative study, the main focus was to explore the experiences of patients and their perceptions of primary care. This was associated with obesity since it has become a significant health problem and therefore there has been a concern on the rate and type of response of health services to these patients (Brown et al., 2006).
The qualitative research was highly suitable in gaining a deeper comprehension of the underlying motivations and reasons. It also provides the researchers the proper insight towards the setting of the problem being assessed (Brown et al., 2006). Simultaneously, it effectively generated hypotheses and ideas for future research.
