In a healthcare environment, over the years, there have been acute errors in service delivery and the notion has not been intervened or given any attention. Errors in healthcare service delivery are different from other malfunctions such as a faulty mechanical and chemical mistakes because the former affects a single individual at a time. Medical errors normally cause two results; a near-miss or an adverse outcome. The two are related in the sense that a near-miss impact could lead to an adverse one. Therefore, to prevent this, professional healthcare providers have develop a third possible solution which is aimed at curbing the harms that may be caused by errors.
The proposed solution for a case of errors in a hospital, in this document, is a process of curbing potential problems and barriers through near-miss reporting. This method is more reliable than any other method because for medical practitioners, the method can be taught via minimal training while the whole practice takes less than three minutes (Pierre, Hofinger & Buerschaper, 2016). Moreover, the reporting process is more effective because it is instilled with numerous medical improvements such as standardized staff training. The solution is consistent with the current evidence as it aims on expanding the significance of near-miss reporting as a method of creating and developing a safer environment for both the staff and patients in a conducive management culture.
This method is effective, reliable and efficient, not to mention realistic. However, like any other project, it has its own limitations. One of the limitations is that if the method was to be effected, the information released from the method could not be enough and accurate in an ambulatory practice (Wall, 2018). This is because of the minimal training offered to caregivers in the department as well as the sense that the ambulatory environment contains a robust and rigid structure that has several various natures of workers, a defined, clear, robust and rigid structure which obliges a detailed staff training. The other limitation was on the issue of finances. The proposed solution may be too costly because it requires that the hospital or any other medical facility hires a number of trainers to conduct the staff training. In addition, the method demands other numerous tools such as, in this technological world, perfectly working communication systems like customized computer programs and mobile phones among other gadgets which are figuratively expensive minutes (Doupnik, Esposito & Lavelle, 2018).
