The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is legislation signed by President Obama in 2010 aimed at enhancing the health coverage of Americans, improving the quality of health care, and managing health costs. ACA had a direct impact on the quality of health care in the US and the cost. The act allowed individuals to be covered up to the age of 26 years, and eliminated cases lack coverage for existing health conditions and lifetime expiration of the coverage (Serakos & Wolfe, 2016). Emmanuel (2019) referred to a report by the Office of the Actuary of the Department of Health and Human Services that noted that since the inception of the program, an estimated cost of $2.3 trillion had been saved through the program. Notably, the government saw a substantial reduction in the cost of health care and an increase in the number of Americans covered by the scheme.
