However, the development of such strategies and better treatment options need a good knowledge base of the mechanisms of the disease. On the other hand, infectious diseases are illnesses which are caused by pathogenic microbes such as parasites, fungi, viruses, and bacteria. Most microbes are usually harmless and may have symbiotic relationships with their hosts. This paper aims to explain the reasons why most deaths in the United States are caused by chronic diseases than infectious disorders on the premises of the five determinants of health.
