Breastfeeding influences the behavior of a child when they grow up in different ways. Most of the mothers leave the hospital after two to three days after they have given birth. It is at this point that most of the problems on breastfeeding arise that are carried on to the next birth. Most of them are new mothers who have little or no knowledge except the knowledge that they have received from their mothers on breastfeeding (Rollins & Hajeeboy 2016). Unfortunately, the knowledge that they have acquired from their mothers can in some cases be insufficient or incorrect and hence they will be carrying out the breastfeeding process in wrong way thinking that they are carrying it out in the right way. In some cases, most of the mothers who are breastfeeding also work at various places and time constraint is one of the factors that can hinder the breastfeeding process. Hygiene during breastfeeding is also important. UNICEF approximates that there are 830 million women workers in the world and most of them return to their places of work soon after they have delivered (Victoria& Bahl, 2016). There is a necessity for the enactment of programs and policies that will make sure that women undertake to breastfeed as part of a health program. Problem Statement There are poor breastfeeding practices by mothers in different parts of the world. There is the need for a proper strategy that will make sure that there are proper breastfeeding practices for the sake of the health of children. The strategy that will be used in this case should ensure that it solves all the problems that have been associated with breastfeeding in the past. Purpose of Change Proposal The change proposal contains the various strategies that can be used in solving the problem of breastfeeding among mothers. As identified in the background above, there are different problems that are affecting mothers who are breastfeeding. After an analysis of the various strategies that have been used in the past to solve the issue, the paper contains a new approach to the issue and it discusses how the approach will be effective in solving the problems. Most of the past approaches to the topic failed due to different purposes. In some cases, the strategies favored only the young mothers while leaving the older mothers out. In some cases, the approaches were realized to be more expensive (Wambach & Riordan 2014). PICOT Population The initiative that has been proposed targets women who are aged 20-42 years old. It is at this age that most of the women go through the problems that have been identified. Women would be located in different parts of the world but as part of beginning the evaluation of the initiative, we will target women located who regularly visit health facilities and the new mothers who have just given birth. The population that has been chosen in this intervention is appropriate since most of the women at this age are mature enough and it will be easier for the instructor to follow up on how they are doing and note any difference in their breastfeeding habits.
