Introduction
Substance abuse is definable as the pattern of destructive use of any substance in order to alter the mood. The abuse of substance among the elderly has become one of the fastest growing problems of health facing the world, and particularly in America. Abuse of substances like alcohol as well as prescribed drugs among adults around fifty years and above is becoming a problem likely to get out of hand. Despite of the fact that the number of this kind of disorder among the elderly is rising daily, very little has or is being done to cope with the situation.
