Parents always want the best for their children, and taking into consideration the child development stages is necessary to provide positive guidance. Children need a positive guide and parents are responsible for guiding them, while there is a need to ensure that the children grow up in a positive environment (Saunders et al., 2013). One of the questions that most parents ask is how to guide their pre-school children positively and effectively, and may seek the teachers’ assistance.
Positive guidance
Positive guidance is neither overly permissive or the overly punitive discipline measures, which help the child understand the appropriateness of their behavior. Identifying Simple Rules
Telling the child what is expected is necessary, but should be kept simple so that they understand. The four-yearly old can understand that some things are not right, and discuss with the child about the rules, and repeat them over time clarifies expectations. The rule should be related to the set goals, while reflection and self-evaluation help to guide the child as areas requiring change are identified.
