You have learned both production process and IWM process in this module. When you've had a chance to review information from the background readings and research other sources on your own, please prepare a 3- to 5-page paper on the topic:
Describe the steps in the production process. What are the possible variations to this process?
or
Describe the steps in the IWM process. What are the possible variations to this process?
You may like to approach the question by discussing 1) what the steps are, 2) various functional areas involved and 3) what the triggers are for the start of the procurement or fulfillment process (not both). It is highly encouraged to produce diagram for all the steps and details.

You carried out the exercise as assigned, or carefully explained the limitations that might have prevented your completing some parts (running out of time isn’t generally considered an adequate limitation).
Support for assertions: You use examples, citations (especially to the required readings), and elaboration to support assertions. You provide evidence that you have read the required background materials.
Clarity: Your answers are clear and show your good understanding of the topic. You see what the module is all about and to structure your paper accordingly.
Breadth and Depth: The scope covered in your paper is directly related to the questions of the assignment and the learning objectives of the module.
Critical thinking: The paper incorporates YOUR reactions, examples, and applications of the material to business that illustrate your reflective judgment and good understanding of the concepts. It is important to read the "required readings" posted in the background material plus others you find relevant. Your informed commentary and analysis is vital -- simply repeating what your sources say does not constitute an adequate paper.
Overall quality: Your paper is well written and the references, where needed, are properly cited and listed (refer to the university guidelines Student Guide to Writing a High-Quality Academic Paper) if you are uncertain about formats or other issues.

Introduction
According to Toolbox (2012), a business process involves many steps which have characteristics such as restricted dispensation of information to persons who can make decisions, exchange of data between units, interfacing with other systems and recording keeping.
Warehouse management process is one of the business processes. The participants of business processes include entities that involve themselves in a simultaneous request and answer methods and methods that require a request to precede a reply. To achieve an efficient and accurate warehouse management process the right tools such as SAP must be used. Traditionally the warehouse management process consisted of routines that were controlled and executed by people in every step. The procedures performed were between people or systems or in some instances a mixture of the two (Tanrikorur, 2007). Built in features like; process replication, cipher production, process completion and screening are apart of the integrated system. The integration of processes increases the level of flexibility while reducing risks and costs. This paper takes an in-depth look at the steps in the IWM process and what triggers the process to start. It also discusses the various functional areas that are involved.
IWM Process
IWM process is a way in which different systems are connected to another so that the movement of data within the system is fast and flawless. The need to eliminated duplication of data and increase the overall efficiency triggers the integration. The result of integration is that significant amount of time and money is saved. IWM enables computerization of business procedures as well as safe data distribution. This gives business a competitive edge because less time is spent on operation and more time and energy can be directed to other useful activities (Mulesoft, 2014). MuleSoft continues to indicate that’s some years back, only large enterprises could afford integrated business processes but today any business can afford. IWM streamlines business activities between sections that are involved. This simplifies the normal business functions and increases productivity.
Warehouses are an important ingredient in supply chains because they an important role. They are a strategic response to demand and supply, transport costs, and value-added processing. The main challenge in managing supply chains is that the demand is unpredictable, but the supply is not as responsive because some transformation is needed to change raw materials into finished goods. Therefore, in readiness for the unknown or seasonal demands the warehouse ensures the product is available. Warehouses also help to consolidate products so that transportation costs are reduced. This is because there is a fixed cost for transportation. Whether the transport vessel is full or not the amount of fuel and time consumed is the same.
