Lesson 1: Justification for Training
Upon completion of the Required Readings, write a thorough, well-planned narrative answer to the following discussion question. Rely on your Required Readings and the Lecture and Research Update for specific information to answer the discussion question, but turn to your original thoughts when asked to apply, evaluate, analyze, or synthesize the information. Training Department Models
Organizations are evolving, and changes are taking place in the training and development of staff members. With the emergence of new digital innovations and advances in technology, most employees face threats of redundancy unless they upgrade their expertise and competencies to adapt to the changing trends in workplaces. There are three training models of employee training, namely the corporate university model, business embedded model, and the change models.
Corporate University Model
This model offers employees the opportunity to go for training and add value to their skills and knowledge that helps organizations through innovations, productivity, and efficiency. According to a survey conducted by Lui and Li (2012), the model followed a process for its establishment, namely the alignment and execution, which involves the auditing of skills and knowledge of employees, knowledge development orientation to the needs of the business hence giving the organization a competitive advantage, use of technology to support learning function, performance evaluation, and partnership with academia. This model's merits involve improving the employee's efficiency in job performance and making it easy for them to move up the corporate ladder. The employees also develop new skills, earns a degree, and other certifications that boost their career development (Schultz, 2010).
